Review of “Always Look Twice” by Elizabeth Goddard

“Always Look Twice” by Elizabeth Goddard is an excellent Christian fiction novel that will appeal to the reader who enjoys mystery with a touch of romance. Many people would agree that facing one’s past can be a challenge and something they are not overly eager to do. The main characters in the book, Heath and Harper, are doing just that. They struggle with their past, and throughout the book, their decisions are heavily influenced by their past experiences. They are both carrying a sense of guilt and feel they do not deserve happiness. This book is one that will hold the reader’s attention from beginning to end!

Review of “Strong Brave Loved” by Holley Gerth

I was so excited to receive a copy of “Strong Brave Loved: Empowering Reminders of Who You Really Are” by Holley Gerth.  I just knew that this was going to be a great devotional. And I am not disappointed at all.  The devotional is hardcover and  consists of 60 devotions. In the devotions, Holley uses personal stories to help her readers relate to her and to make it feel like you are reading a letter from a friend. She also puts a scripture at the beginning of the devotions. At the end of the devotions there is space to journal.  Above this space, Holley puts prompts to guide you in your journaling but you can always write whatever it is on your heart to write in that space. This devotional would make a great gift to yourself or a friend that you know needs some encouragement.

Review of “She Prays” by Debbie Lindell

I had never heard of Debbie Lindell before I got this book “She Prays: A 31-Day Journey to Confident Conversations with God”. However, I have found some of the best books when branching out to authors I’ve never heard of and giving them a chance. In the introduction, Debbie talks about several reasons people don’t pray. One of them really spoke to me because I know I have felt this way before. The gist of what she said was that some people feel like there is a formula they have to follow in order to pray to God. As Debbie points out this is not true. She takes you though four categories of how we pray: 1) with understanding 2) with knowledge 3) with trust and 4) with power. The with knowledge category has the most days. At the end of each day she has space for journaling. I think this is a good book for someone looking to enhance their prayer life.

Review of “A Distance Too Grand” by Regina Scott

I’m pretty sure that “A Distance Too Grand” is the first novel I’ve read by Regina Scott. It is the first in a series. I have to say that reading this book which is set in the Grand Canyon has really made me want to go see the Grand Canyon for myself. This book is a historical romance novel but I have to say it is also somewhat suspenseful to me. Not scary suspense but still suspenseful. During the expedition, the main characters are on they start feeling like someone is following or watching them which creates some suspense. They feel like this because of different occurrences while out in the middle of nowhere. They should be the only ones around, but are they? I am glad that this book is not a stand-alone because I definitely want to know more. I am personally hoping for at least two more books after this one. I highly recommend this book to anyone who likes to read fiction.

Review of Irene Hannon’s “Dark Ambitions”

For those unfamiliar with Irene Hannon, her new book “Dark Ambitions” would serve as a great starting point. Having read nearly all of her books, this one proved to be just as action packed and hard to put down. The complex plot keeps the reader on his or her toes. Hannon takes seemingly unrelated characters and weaves their lives together. The way she goes about developing her characters is phenomenal! Her story is told in such a way that the reader has information not yet known by all of the characters; you cannot wait until their eyes are open to what is going on. She keeps you on the edge of your seat trying to anticipate what will happen next. This is definitely a great read!
