Review of “Looking for Leroy” by Melody Carlson

I am a big fan of Melody Carlson and her books. I feel like most of the books I have read by Melody Carlson have main characters that seem to be in their mid twenties to early thirties; however, the main characters in this novel are around mid to late forties to early fifties, I believe. To me this gives the book a slightly different dynamic. This novel is written from both the point of view of the female main character and the male main character. The story also includes some interesting secondary characters. I sometimes find that a book is only really as good as these secondary characters. I feel as though if they do not entertain you, then you will not like the book. With that said, there are several secondary characters in this book that I find entertaining. One of those characters is Motorcycle Mike. He definitely adds some humor into this plot. Another one is Gina. She adds some no nonsense attitude to the story that is intriguing. Overall I think this book is well balanced in terms of humorous and more serious characters. I definitely recommend it.

Review of “Texas Killer Connection” by Virginia Vaughan

This is the first book I have read by Virginia Vaughan. I thought the cover was intriguing and that the book blurb so very interesting so I was excited to read this book. Virginia Vaughan did an excellent job of building the mystery of this plot. Just when you think you have solved the crime and figured out who had done it, she throws in a curve ball that you were not expecting. I thought that having the cousins look like each other was one interesting element that I have not really seen used before and it made for some really good situations in this story. I definitely recommend this book to anyone who likes trying to solve puzzles.

Review of “Lost and Found Faith” by Laurel Blount

This is the first book I have read by Laurel Blount and I have to say it is at the top of my list of great reads. I absolutely loved all of the characters in this book to the point where I thought that the book was way too short. It could have been twice as long and I feel that I would have still wanted more. The interactions between Oliver and Neil, Maggie and Oliver, as well as Dex and Neil were some of my favorites. I also found Ruby to be so endearing that I wanted to jump into the book and have a cup of coffee with her. Angelo, Maggie’s boss, was also an amazing secondary character that had an awesome depth to the story. I would definitely read a book with each of the secondary characters as main characters if the author were to do that. I highly recommend this book!
