I have read and thoroughly enjoyed several books by this author. I am a big fan of cold case novels. I also thought it was cool that the main female character was named Skylar because that is the name of my daughter. This novel did not disappoint where the suspense was concerned. It started from the very first chapter and did not stop to almost the very end. It had a great romance between the two main characters. I also thoroughly enjoyed the interactions between the main characters and the daughter of the main male character. She added a sweet element to the plot. There’s a lot of twists and turns in this book and I did not really figure it out until about the time it was revealed to me who did it. I highly recommend this book.

This is the second book I have read by this author though the first one I read was a while ago so I would still consider her a new-to-me author. I went into reading book unsure if it would read slowly since it is historical but surprisingly it did not. I was interested in reading this because not only did it sound incredibly interesting but it is based on true events. The chapters varied between short and what I would say is medium in length. I was drawn in by the interactions between Gwen, her sister, her niece and her nephew. I loved how you could feel the love they had for each other. I also loved the housekeeper, Mrs. Barrie. However, I was not a fan of Russell. He was a well-written pompous self-centered jerk of a man. There are several parts of this novel where you may need a box of tissues by your side. It was such a great read. I highly recommend it to those who like not only historical books but ones that are based on true events.

I have read several books by this author and I have enjoyed them all. I also really wanted to read this book because it is about World War II which I always find interesting. At first the chapters were long and the book read a little slow, but about halfway through some of the chapters were shorter and it started to read a little faster. This novel had so much heart and soul to it. I felt like I could feel some of what the main characters were feeling throughout the novel because it was so well written. It definitely drew me in from the beginning because of the human element that was so evident in the novel. If you like books set during World War II, then I definitely recommend this book.

This is a go-to author for me when I am looking for a good clean romance. One of my favorite things about this novel was the interactions between the kids of the two main characters. It was so sweet to read how much the little girl, Hailey, of the main male character, Devin, loved the little baby boy, Tyler, of the main female character, Cassie. I had my heart on my sleeve for one of the boys that came to the camp with other kids from a group home. There were so many heartfelt moments in this book. I absolutely loved how sweet and kind Cassie was to Hailey. There were some great themes to this story as well such as forgiveness, redemption, and adoption. Overall, this book was well-written and in my opinion a must read.
