Review of “Treacherous Escape” by Kellie VanHorn

This book starts out with the suspense from the very first chapter. The author does an excellent job of adding twists into the story to make it more intriguing than just a who done it kind of story. The two main characters have more in common than they initially thought which also adds a little something to the novel. I definitely recommend this book.

Review of “A Valentine’s Day Return” by Brenda Minton

I really like books by Brenda Minton because they always seem so heartwarming. This book really touched my heart. Kylie was such an inspirational character especially in the way she handled the situation with her mother. The secondary characters in this book were also written so well. I could definitely see myself living in this town and hanging out with the people from this novel. I would love to spend time in Kylie’s coffee shop and go to the Valentine’s Day event. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes sweet romances.

Review of “The Letter from Briarton Park” by Sarah E. Ladd

This is the first book I have read by this author. It is a regency novel which is not my main genre that I read but I have found some of them to be very good. I found this novel to be really good because of the mystery that Cassandra Hale finds herself to be in regarding her family. Also, there are several interesting characters in this novel that just draw you into the story. I found myself wanting to stand up to the mother-in-law of the story because of all the drama she stirred up. The vicar was a well written character with a side of himself he tries to hide. I would totally recommend this book to anyone.

Review of “Embers in the London Sky” by Sarah Sundin

I really enjoy books by Sarah Sundin because they are usually set during World War II. She does an excellent job of bringing out the humanity in the characters and situations they find themselves in. She also does an amazing job of writing about difficult topics with compassion. In some ways, I could feel the heart of the characters jumping off the page. This book is no exception. I normally find historical books to read slow but the chapters in this book are short and help it feel like a faster read. The author has included quite a bit of mystery and intrigue which also helps it feel like a faster read. This book is a must read for those who love historical fiction with some romance weaved in.
