Review of “The Legacy of Longdale Manor” by Carrie Turansky

This is the first book I have read by this author. It is a split-time novel that is set in 1912 and 2012. The book description really pulled me in and I felt I just had to read this story. Both of the main female characters are going through their own type of difficult situation. They also both have their own love interests. I enjoyed both time periods equally. It is interesting to see the present time period intertwine with the past time period. Also I have started judging books by their secondary characters and this book has some really great ones. It is well written and I definitely recommend it.

Review of “Letters from My Sister” by Valerie Fraser Luesse

This is the first book I have ever read by this author. The blurb for the book is what drew me to want to read it and I also love finding good new authors. The book was a little slower of a read for me but because it was well written and interesting that did not bother me. My favorite character in the book is Callie Bullock. My favorite duo is Callie and Solomon. I love the way they interact with each other and their conversations are always so genuine. About middle of the book, it gets really mysterious and the reading speed picks up. This book was a really good read.

Review of “A Family to Foster” by Laurel Blount

I have read several books by Laurel Blount and really enjoyed all of them. This novel is no exception. The book is a really good second chance romance. The main characters are Patrick Callahan and Torey Bryant. They dated in high school but then went their separate ways for years until Torey comes back to town to help her mom. Not only are the main characters really interesting to read about in this book, the secondary characters are just as well written. Patrick is fostering two kids with the intention of adopting them but his past as well as his family is not helping make that happen. Torey has to decide whether she is really happy at her current job or if she wants something different. This novel was really well written and I definitely recommend it.

Review of “Summer in the Spotlight” by Liz Johnson

This is the first book I have read by this author though it is the third book in the Prince Edward Island Shores series. The two main characters are Kelsey Ahern and Levi Ross. I really like how Levi communicates without really using a lot of words especially since Kelsey tends to talk quite a bit. I can relate to both of them in that I can be like Levi when I am around someone I do not know well or Kelsey when I do know a person well. There are also some really good secondary characters such as Dustin Crowder and several family members of Levi. This book has some twists that will surprise you and makes the plot that much more intriguing. I really enjoyed this story.

Review of “Forever Home” by Hope Toler Dougherty

This is the first book I have read by this author and it is book three in the Forever series. I love that it takes place in my home state of North Carolina. The two main characters are Merritt Hastings and Sam Daniels. I have to say that I sometimes find that some of the best books have great secondary characters and this one definitely does. One of my favorites is Ms. Connie. I also really enjoy Merritt’s memories of Millie, the lady who took her in. The author does such a good job of bringing reality to this story. Merritt was raised in the foster care system. And while it seems like Sam has the perfect life, things aren’t always what they seem. I definitely enjoyed this book.
