Review of “The Wind Blows in Sleeping Grass” by Katie Powner

I really like books by this author. The main characters in this book are Pete Ryman and Wilma Jacobson. Pete Ryman is the garage truck driver in the small town of Sleeping Grass, Montana. He has one friend, Windy Ray, and his pet pig, Pearl. Wilma Jacobsen is an older widow. She employs a lady named Lily as her housekeeper even though she does not really need one, but she likes the company. All of these characters bring life to this novel. I find myself so drawn into their stories that I feel as though I am there with them. This book really has heart behind it and it definitely comes out as you read.

Review of “A Royal Christmas” by Melody Carlson

I am a big fan of Christmas novellas by Melody Carlson so I make it a point to read them. This novella revolves around the main character, Adelaide. She finds out that the father she never knew is a king. At first this novella seemed somewhat predictable but then there are several things that make it unique. The author did a great job of making the stepmother into someone that you cannot stand. She would definitely fall under the evil stepmother category. There are also some interesting Christmas traditions mentioned in this novella. I would definitely recommend this book.

Review of “The Legacy of Longdale Manor” by Carrie Turansky

This is the first book I have read by this author. It is a split-time novel that is set in 1912 and 2012. The book description really pulled me in and I felt I just had to read this story. Both of the main female characters are going through their own type of difficult situation. They also both have their own love interests. I enjoyed both time periods equally. It is interesting to see the present time period intertwine with the past time period. Also I have started judging books by their secondary characters and this book has some really great ones. It is well written and I definitely recommend it.

Review of “Letters from My Sister” by Valerie Fraser Luesse

This is the first book I have ever read by this author. The blurb for the book is what drew me to want to read it and I also love finding good new authors. The book was a little slower of a read for me but because it was well written and interesting that did not bother me. My favorite character in the book is Callie Bullock. My favorite duo is Callie and Solomon. I love the way they interact with each other and their conversations are always so genuine. About middle of the book, it gets really mysterious and the reading speed picks up. This book was a really good read.

Review of “A Family to Foster” by Laurel Blount

I have read several books by Laurel Blount and really enjoyed all of them. This novel is no exception. The book is a really good second chance romance. The main characters are Patrick Callahan and Torey Bryant. They dated in high school but then went their separate ways for years until Torey comes back to town to help her mom. Not only are the main characters really interesting to read about in this book, the secondary characters are just as well written. Patrick is fostering two kids with the intention of adopting them but his past as well as his family is not helping make that happen. Torey has to decide whether she is really happy at her current job or if she wants something different. This novel was really well written and I definitely recommend it.
