Review of “An Unexpected Love Story” by Ellie Hall

This is an author that is brand new to me. This book is the first in the series called “Falling into Happily Ever After Sweet Romantic Comedy”. Though I enjoyed parts of this book, some of it was just not my type of book. For example, I am not big on shortening words and making them sound cutesy like where the author uses the word ship for relationship. I did like some of the parts where Catherine and Kellan interacted but not so much where it was Catherine and Hazel. I also definitely didn’t really get or love the nickname, catnip, that Kellan had for Catherine. With all that being said, this book is somebody’s cup of tea. That somebody would not mind the shortening of words and other similar cutesy things.

Review of “Since You’ve Been Gone” by Tari Faris

This is the third and last book in the Restoring Heritage series. The series also included two novellas. This is one series that you will definitely want to read in order and in its entirety. It is so good that when you get to this book you will find yourself sad that it is ending. Tari Faris does a great job making her characters and the world they live in come to life. I find myself imagining that I am there in Heritage sitting on Otis the hippo for a bit reading a book that I got from the really cool sounding town library. Then I’ll go visit the local diner for coffee and breakfast. Even though the blurb on the back only mentions two characters, there are also two other characters that I would say are main characters as well. One of those was in one of the previous books in this series. Oh and do not worry Otis the hippo definitely makes an appearance.

Review of “Lethal Cover-up” by Darlene L. Turner

This is book three in the Border Portal series. You do not have to read them in order to enjoy each one. It is the second book I have read by Darlene L. Turner. She definitely does suspense well. Unlike some suspense novels, you do not have to wait one page before the suspense starts which may be because these books are short. And the puzzle draws you in and holds you there until the very end. I definitely recommend this book.

Beth Tremayne has always been drawn to adventure. During her childhood, she fed that desire by exploring every inch of the Isles of Scilly. As an adolescent, she dreamed of love in London’s ballrooms. Now, stumbling across an old map on her family’s property, she’s found more adventure than she ever dreamed in the hunt for pirate treasure. Unfortunately, Beth can’t escape the attentions of her family’s guest, Lord Sheridan.

Sheridan has spent years pursuing whatever archaeological interest caught his imagination. And when he discovers that Beth’s search connects with one of his favorite pirates of history, he can’t help getting involved. Plus, he finds her irresistible, even though she insists he stole a prized possession of hers.

As they work together following different clues and drawing closer to danger, they start to piece together a story of tragic love and piratical adventure. But the true surprise is the treasure they discover in one another.
