Review of “Kate Landry Has a Plan” by Rebekah Millet

I honestly did not read the blurb for the book before wanting to read it because I enjoyed the first one in the series so much I just knew I wanted to read this one too. I was so excited that the main character from the first book in the series made an appearance in this one. I was drawn in from the beginning because the main female character and I are about the same age. Also one of my favorite songs from when I was younger was mentioned in the very beginning of the novel. Kate’s ex-fiancee, Ryan, was a well-written jerk. And I loved all of Kate’s little sayings when she is frustrated. This book was hard to put down because it was such a great read!

Review of “An Unexpected Companion” by Mindy Obenhaus

I love books by this author. This novel is about widow Tessa Wagner, her two sons, and widower Dirk Matthews. One of the secondary characters is Tessa’s aunt, D’Lynn Hunt. I think she added a lot of great personality to the plot. I am excited to say that even though this novel is not set in Hope Crossing, the characters do go to the rodeo that was mentioned in the Hope Crossing series. I loved how much grace was shown in this book. I thought this novel did an excellent job of discussing grief and the loss of a loved one. It was such a great second chance at love book. I definitely recommend it!

Review of “Written in Secret” by Crystal Caudill

This is the first book I have read by this author. The main characters in this novel are Lydia Pelton and Abraham Hall. Even though some serious things happen in this story, there are some funny parts with the main female character and her quick wit. I really enjoy figuring out puzzles and mysteries so that was one reason I found this book to be intriguing. The main mystery plot in this book was pretty original which also drew me into the story. I will say that the author did an excellent job of making this one hard mystery to solve. The book was not too gory for me even though there was murder in it which I appreciated. I am not a big fan of gore and the author did a great job of describing things without making it more detailed than it really needed to be to get the point across. Overall, I would say this was a great read and I would definitely recommend it.

Review of “Storm Warning” by Elizabeth Goddard

I have read several books by this author and her books are on my must read list. This novel is the first in a new series called Hidden Bay. It does not take long to figure out how the prologue fits into the story nor does it take long for the suspense and mystery to begin. I think that the author did an amazing job of writing her two main characters. They complement each other really well. I also think that the suspense and mystery in this plot builds at a good pace. I found myself not wanting to put the book down. There were several really good twists and turns in this book. The suspense and action lasted to almost the end of the story. I would definitely recommend this one.
