Review of “Escape to Whispering Creek” by Barbara M. Britton

This is the first book I have read by this author. This is a Romantic Christian Fiction novel. I was interested in reading this because the blurb on the back of the book sounded very interesting. This book felt very original to me. I loved all of the characters in this story. I really loved the dynamic between Wade and Emma. It was nice to see how she helped him go from grumpy to loving life again. I thought this story had all the emotions from amusement, sadness and down right happy. This book was one of those that was hard to put down. It kept my attention from the beginning to the end. I definitely recommend this novel.

Review of “An Unexpected Grace” by Tracie Peterson and Kimberly Woodhouse

I have read several books by Tracie Peterson but this is my first book I have read by Kimberly Woodhouse. This is the third in the series called The Jewels of Kalispell. I have not read the first two books in the series. The good thing is you can read this one without having read the first two and you will not be lost. This book has so many good things about it including some great secondary characters. James St. John, Johanna’s brother-in-law, was so well-written that I wanted to jump into the book and give him a piece of my mind. This story grabbed my attention from the very beginning and kept it until the very end. I definitely recommend this book!

Review of “The Fire Chief’s Surprise” by Chris Maday Schmidt

This is the first book I have read by this author. While this is a love inspired romance, there was some mystery involved in the story. I thought that it was quite original of the author to make it so that the main male character has to get married in order to keep the son of his foster brother who was killed in an accident with his wife. I liked the town legend that is mentioned throughout the novel. I enjoyed reading about all the characters in this book and would love to read future books with these same characters. I could see myself living in Sweetwater. This book was such a great read. I would definitely recommend it.

Review of “A Cookbook Conspiracy” by Kate Carlisle

This is the first book I have read by this author. I really wanted to like this book more than I did. Though the mystery part of the novel was well-written, there were several things that really made me not enjoy reading this book like I do most. I was disappointed at the amount of curse words in the novel. I also was not a fan of the mother’s rituals being so detailed with even the chants written into the story. This particular read was not for me, but I may be someone else’s cup of tea.

Review of “Sweet Ridge Hearts” by Susan Bagby

This is the first book I have read by this author. Even though this is the third book in a series, you do not have to read the first two in order to enjoy this one. I was excited when I realized that this book was set during the Thanksgiving and Christmas season. I love a good Christmas book! I thought that the ex-boyfriend of the main character was a well-written jerk. I was disappointed that the curse word for a female dog was used twice in the novel; however, I was glad the novel was not full of curse words. I thought that the overall plot was really well written. I also really enjoyed the part dealing with the kids and the veterans in the story. I would definitely recommend this book.
