Review of “You Belong with Me” by Tari Faris

“You Belong With Me” written by Tari Faris was the first time I had encountered this author. It takes place in a small town in the northern part of the United States. Like with many small older towns, time has taken its toll. When this happens, there is usually one or more people who desire to see it revived. If you are a nostalgic, sentimental person, this book will tug at your heart. This book will appeal to those looking for romance and an element of mystery. The story deals with struggling relationships, trust issues and misunderstandings. Have you ever felt like you had to fix things or that you needed to be in control? Do you think God has a plan for your life? Scripture tells us in Jeremiah 29:11 that God does indeed have a plan for our lives. Faris’s book is an example of what might transpire in our lives if we give God control and wait on His perfect timing. I would highly recommend this book. It appears there will be a sequel, and I cannot wait to read it.

Review “Love Changes Everything” by Micah Berteau

I really liked the real world example Micah Berteau used in Chapter One to relate how we mess up but how God still loves us anyway. I have to say it was a unique way to explain this concept. Also in Chapter One, I was surprised when Micah compared Jesus and what He did for our salvation to a Michael Jackson song. I am not saying that I loved his comparison nor hated his comparison because it did make sense and it was clever but I just wouldn’t have thought to compare the sacrifice just made to a Michael Jackson song. To understand what he was saying you will have to read the book yourself. Throughout the rest of the book the author uses other relatable things to explain biblical concepts. I like that the chapters in this book are pretty short and to the point. The author doesn’t get off topic and ramble about irrelevant things. He also puts in relevant scriptures where needed to go with the point he is trying to make. Overall I’d say this is definitely a book that will make you think and that can help you understand God’s love for you more than you did or emphasize what you already knew of His love for you.

Review of “The Words Between Us” by Erin Bartels

I had never heard of Erin Bartels before but I really liked the title, cover and summary of this book, “The Words Between Us”, so I was really looking forward to reading it. I have to say she did not disappoint me. I would definitely read another one by her. In fact, I would love a sequel to this one. In this book, Erin Bartels moves between past and present. I don’t always appreciate the way an author transitions between the past and the present but I think Erin did an excellent job of making it not only flow but it easy to tell which one you were reading about. She labeled the past chapters with the word, “then”, and the present with the word, “now”. Also up until the end of the book, each time was one chapter so it went now and then and now and then and so forth til Chapter 37. Erin also did a great job of keeping you on the edge of your seat wanting to know more about what the main character was going through and how she would handle it all. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who likes human interest stories.

Review of “Always We Begin Again” by Leeana Tankersley

Are you looking for a devotional that is interactive in nature? Then “Always We Begin Again: Stepping into the Next, New Moment” by Leeana Tankersley is the book for you. This devotional has 100 devotions that range in topic. After each of the 100 devotions, the author has questions for you to think about and answer. The best part is that she has included some space right below the question where you can write down your answer. Also, I like that she has a contents section in the front of the book that lists the title of each of the devotionals so you can mark your favorites there and then easily know what page they are on when you want to go back and read them again.

Review of “Confident Moms, Confident Daughters” by Maria Furlough

When I saw “Confident Moms, Confident Daughters” by Maria Furlough advertised on Facebook and in my email from Revell about books coming out soon that I had the option to review, I was extremely excited. It didn’t take me a long once I started reading to find something that I can really relate to. I have always struggled with confidence in myself. The author mentions in the first chapter how insecure she was growing up and I have to say it was refreshing to read because I totally related to what she said. I also never gave it much thought during certain times but looking back can totally agree when she says that in order to try to help out confidence we will do things that aren’t always good for us. These are two of the reasons I really wanted to read this book. The other is because I have an infant daughter who I would like to help be confident in herself when she gets older but before I can help her to become confident in who God made her to be I need to do so myself. I am so glad Maria wrote this book.
