Review of Irene Hannon’s “Dark Ambitions”

For those unfamiliar with Irene Hannon, her new book “Dark Ambitions” would serve as a great starting point. Having read nearly all of her books, this one proved to be just as action packed and hard to put down. The complex plot keeps the reader on his or her toes. Hannon takes seemingly unrelated characters and weaves their lives together. The way she goes about developing her characters is phenomenal! Her story is told in such a way that the reader has information not yet known by all of the characters; you cannot wait until their eyes are open to what is going on. She keeps you on the edge of your seat trying to anticipate what will happen next. This is definitely a great read!

Review of “Unscripted” by Davis Bunn

So it took me a little bit to realize that “Unscripted” is  the second book I’ve read by Davis Bunn. The first was one I read by him was “The Great Divide”. I am glad I didn’t realize that this is my second book by him when I signed up to read this one because the first one I read by him was not really my favorite and I am not sure I would have been interested in this one no matter how intriguing the story sounded. However, I am not going to let my lack of enjoyment in his other book taint my review of this book. Since all books in theory even by the same author should stand alone unless they’re in a series. So my first thing I would like to say with this book is that it is a little hard to follow everything that is going on. Part of the reason I think it is hard to follow is because to me the book was started at the wrong point in the story. I feel like instead of starting with the main character already in jail maybe he should have started with how he got there. Also it seems to me like two different stories are going on at the same time which is making it feel a little disjointed. However, there is some mystery to the whole story as you’re reading that is helping me want to finish the book. Hopefully all the pieces of the puzzle or puzzles depending on if you think it is somewhat disjointed will come together in the end and make it so the beginning of the book will make more sense in hindsight.

Review of the book “100 Ways to Love Your Husband” by Lisa Jacobson

“100 Ways to Love your Husband” is my first book I have read by Lisa Jacobson. And I am really surprised to have found out this is a reprint. It originally came out in 2014. This being said there are already over 400 reviews for this book currently listed on Amazon so I am not sure if I can really say anything that those reviews have not already covered. However, I am still going to give my honest review of this book. When I signed up to read this book, I wasn’t sure what to expect. I had purchased a similar book in the past and was sorely disappointed in the lack of content in that one but still wanted to give this one a chance since it’s a different author. And I have to say I’m kind of disappointed in this one too because it seems to me that a lot of what I am reading in it my husband and I already do. Also I feel like some of it is common sense. I feel like this book may be be better suited to someone who is more newly married or someone who is engaged and getting married. It might help them to better understand marriage. It might also be well suited for someone who may not have had a good example of a marriage growing up.

Review of “Christmas in Winter Hill” by Melody Carlson

First let me start with the fact that I love Christmas as well as Christmas books.  I love them so much that I will now read them anytime of the year.  I am also a big fan of not only Melody Carlson, but her Christmas books are some of my favorites.  I am pretty sure that I have read all of her Christmas books and I have even read some of her other fiction novels.  She is an excellent author.  And on that note, I was really looking forward to reading “Christmas at Winter Hill” and it did not disappoint me at all.  As with her other Christmas books, you find yourself rooting for the main character.  In this book, you are rooting for the main character’s Christmas to finally be a good one which in turn will change her attitude toward Christmas.  Throughout the story, you will be surprised by some twists that you might not have expected to occur.  What are those twists you ask? Well you will just have to read it to find out.  I do believe that you also will not be disappointed that you got this book.

Review of “You Belong with Me” by Tari Faris

“You Belong With Me” written by Tari Faris was the first time I had encountered this author. It takes place in a small town in the northern part of the United States. Like with many small older towns, time has taken its toll. When this happens, there is usually one or more people who desire to see it revived. If you are a nostalgic, sentimental person, this book will tug at your heart. This book will appeal to those looking for romance and an element of mystery. The story deals with struggling relationships, trust issues and misunderstandings. Have you ever felt like you had to fix things or that you needed to be in control? Do you think God has a plan for your life? Scripture tells us in Jeremiah 29:11 that God does indeed have a plan for our lives. Faris’s book is an example of what might transpire in our lives if we give God control and wait on His perfect timing. I would highly recommend this book. It appears there will be a sequel, and I cannot wait to read it.
