Review of “Nothing Short of Wondrous” by Regina Scott

This is my second book I have read by Regina Scott and it is also the second book in her “American Wonders Collection”.  Even though this is the second book in a series, you by no means have to read the first to be able to read and enjoy this book.  They are in no way dependent on each other. The first one was set in  the Grand Canyon in 1871.  However, this book is set in Yellowstone National Park in 1866.  They are the same series because they are both set in wondrous places of the United States.  As with the first book in this series, A Distance Too Grand, this book also has a strong female main character who holds her own as well as the military. Regina Scott does an excellent job of describing her characters and bringing them to life.  She also does an excellent job of describing the world to which the characters live and interact.  The romantic dynamic between the main female character, Kate Tremaine, and the main male character, Lieutenant William Prescott, is outstandingly good especially because she tells it from both points of view.  If you like to read historical romance novels, then I would say that you would definitely enjoy this book.  And if you have not read one before, then this is a good one to read for your first.

Review of “Point of Danger” by Irene Hannon

Do you like to solve puzzles? Irene Hannon does such a great job of having several possible suspects to her crimes that it definitely feels like a complicated puzzle. Several people have possible reasonable motives in this book so you start to wonder if there is more than one suspect working together. Because of this, I am so drawn in and captivated by this story that it is hard to put it down. I will say that there are some topics in this book that lots of people will have strong opinions on or may bring up bad memories for some so if you are someone that gets upset when reading about difficult topics then this book may not be for you. There is also to me an underlying theme of the enemy coming after someone the more they try to do the right thing.

Review of “Falling for the Innkeeper” by Meghann Whistler

When you first meet Jonathan Masters, you really aren’t sure if you should love how dedicated he is towards his job or be mad because he is trying to buy out Laura’s beloved Inn. Then you realize that Laura doesn’t have a clue that her mother is the reason that he is there to buy the Inn in the first place so you give him a break and wonder why her mother would do such a thing. Meghann does such a good job weaving these characters together and relaying their story that before you know it, you are on the next to last page and wishing the book was just a little longer. If you like books with characters who seem genuine and real, then you’ll love this book.

Review of “The Trouble with Love” by Toni Shiloh

“The Trouble with Love” by Toni Shiloh is the first of three books in her “Faith and Fortune” series. This book does a great job of helping people to realize that we are all in need of Jesus even those who think they have so much due to riches and fame. Toni does an excellent job of bringing her characters and their world to life. You will find yourself rooting for everyone in this book. And I will also say that this book definitely leaves you wanting to read the next one in the series.

Review of “The Key to Love” by Betsy St. Amant

This is my first book by Betsy St. Amant and I was hooked after just the first chapter. Don’t worry I am not going to give away a lot about the book because then you would not be able to experience the joy of reading it in the same way but I will just say that one thing that Betsy mentions in that first chapter reminded me of a movie called The Princess Diaries. Also, there is one part of the story that I can definitely say tells me if you loved Courtney Walsh’s Paper Hearts book then you will love this one too. Betsy does such an amazing job of describing things that I can picture myself sitting right there inside Pastry Puff and drinking a cup of coffee while eating a really great macaroon! Even if for some reason you are not drawn in just by looking at the gorgeous cover of this book I still ask that if you like romance books with a little bit of comedy thrown in that you give this book a chance. I just don’t believe you’ll regret it if you do.
