This is the first book I have read my Mary Alford. It is an Amish novel; however, it also involves non-Amish as well and it definitely has the suspense. It starts out with the tragic brutal death of an Amish girl during her Rumspringa. Solving the crime which is connected to one of the police officer’s past is the basis of the novel. The way the author describes events and the peoples’ emotions in this book will definitely have you feeling the same emotions right along with the characters. It was written with such realism that I had to remind myself it was a fictional book. I would recommend this book.

This is the first book I have read by this author. The very original title really caught my attention and had me curious to the point where I felt I had to read this book. The main character, Mrs. Clara Kip, is so well written that I feel like she is a real person and that book is non-fiction instead of fiction. The book is a split-time novel. It is split between current day and Clara’s past day. Another thing that this has that I really like is good secondary characters and great life lessons. This book has an amazing human element to it. It brings such respect, honor, and dignity to the characters that are aging. It also does a great job of bridging the gap between those characters who are older with those of the younger generation. I loved this book and it was hard to put down.

This is the sixth book in the “Cowboy Lawmen” series. It is about Josh Avery and Cecile Richardson. He is the sheriff and she is one of his deputies. These two characters play off each other well. By that I mean, you can really feel their chemistry. The suspense in this book starts from the very beginning and goes to almost the very end. One of the many things I found interesting in this novel is that not only is there a current case going on but there are several cold cases as well. I also found it interesting that it was not easy to determine the guilty party. In fact, I did not solve this one myself. For a romantic suspense book, I thought there was a good balance between the two. I definitely would recommend this novel.

This is the second book in the Sedgwick County Chronicles. It is a romantic split time novel. It was so well written that I found myself feeling all of the emotions that the characters were feeling. The grandmother in the story has Alzheimer’s disease and parts of the book are written where you can tell they are her thoughts. It is so sad but so accurately written I believe as to what a person with Alzheimer’s would sound like if you were inside their head. I can relate to this because I have known and been around people with this disease. I can also relate to Garrett’s philosophy on being early is the equivalent of being on time. All the characters in this book draw you into the story. This book is definitely on the top of my favorite books I have read list.
