Review of “Unscripted” by Davis Bunn

So it took me a little bit to realize that “Unscripted” is  the second book I’ve read by Davis Bunn. The first was one I read by him was “The Great Divide”. I am glad I didn’t realize that this is my second book by him when I signed up to read this one because the first one I read by him was not really my favorite and I am not sure I would have been interested in this one no matter how intriguing the story sounded. However, I am not going to let my lack of enjoyment in his other book taint my review of this book. Since all books in theory even by the same author should stand alone unless they’re in a series. So my first thing I would like to say with this book is that it is a little hard to follow everything that is going on. Part of the reason I think it is hard to follow is because to me the book was started at the wrong point in the story. I feel like instead of starting with the main character already in jail maybe he should have started with how he got there. Also it seems to me like two different stories are going on at the same time which is making it feel a little disjointed. However, there is some mystery to the whole story as you’re reading that is helping me want to finish the book. Hopefully all the pieces of the puzzle or puzzles depending on if you think it is somewhat disjointed will come together in the end and make it so the beginning of the book will make more sense in hindsight.

Review of “Christmas in Winter Hill” by Melody Carlson

First let me start with the fact that I love Christmas as well as Christmas books.  I love them so much that I will now read them anytime of the year.  I am also a big fan of not only Melody Carlson, but her Christmas books are some of my favorites.  I am pretty sure that I have read all of her Christmas books and I have even read some of her other fiction novels.  She is an excellent author.  And on that note, I was really looking forward to reading “Christmas at Winter Hill” and it did not disappoint me at all.  As with her other Christmas books, you find yourself rooting for the main character.  In this book, you are rooting for the main character’s Christmas to finally be a good one which in turn will change her attitude toward Christmas.  Throughout the story, you will be surprised by some twists that you might not have expected to occur.  What are those twists you ask? Well you will just have to read it to find out.  I do believe that you also will not be disappointed that you got this book.

Review of “You Belong with Me” by Tari Faris

“You Belong With Me” written by Tari Faris was the first time I had encountered this author. It takes place in a small town in the northern part of the United States. Like with many small older towns, time has taken its toll. When this happens, there is usually one or more people who desire to see it revived. If you are a nostalgic, sentimental person, this book will tug at your heart. This book will appeal to those looking for romance and an element of mystery. The story deals with struggling relationships, trust issues and misunderstandings. Have you ever felt like you had to fix things or that you needed to be in control? Do you think God has a plan for your life? Scripture tells us in Jeremiah 29:11 that God does indeed have a plan for our lives. Faris’s book is an example of what might transpire in our lives if we give God control and wait on His perfect timing. I would highly recommend this book. It appears there will be a sequel, and I cannot wait to read it.

Review of “The Words Between Us” by Erin Bartels

I had never heard of Erin Bartels before but I really liked the title, cover and summary of this book, “The Words Between Us”, so I was really looking forward to reading it. I have to say she did not disappoint me. I would definitely read another one by her. In fact, I would love a sequel to this one. In this book, Erin Bartels moves between past and present. I don’t always appreciate the way an author transitions between the past and the present but I think Erin did an excellent job of making it not only flow but it easy to tell which one you were reading about. She labeled the past chapters with the word, “then”, and the present with the word, “now”. Also up until the end of the book, each time was one chapter so it went now and then and now and then and so forth til Chapter 37. Erin also did a great job of keeping you on the edge of your seat wanting to know more about what the main character was going through and how she would handle it all. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who likes human interest stories.

Review of “Finding Lady Enderly” by Joanna Davidson Politano

If you like suspenseful romance novels without all the explicit sex and bad language then Joanna Davidson Politano’s “Finding Lady Enderly” is just the book you’re looking to read. This books was hard to put down with the edge of your seat situations that occur throughout the book. My favorite thing in this book are the notes that the main character and her love interest exchange using books. They using the initials of the author, a colon, the initials of the book, and then the page number to tell the other where to look for an underlined passage. The underlined passage is the message for the other person. I really like on page 92 where the author says “My dear lady, carrying yourself with poise doesn’t mean you believe yourself to be perfect. It simply means you aren’t bothered by the parts that aren’t.” I also really like on page 163 where the main character’s love interest tells her “The weakest version of the real you is stronger than the best imitation of someone else.” One thing I think that people will be surprised about in regards to this book are the life lessons that you can take from it. I highly recommend this book and I intend on going back to read other authors other books.
