Review of “The Siren’s Captain” by Regina Scott

This is book number six in the Grace-by-the-Sea series and I would say if you have not read the others, then you will not enjoy this one as much. I am excited to say that the main male character in this one is Captain St. Claire. To me, he has been one of the most elusive characters in the series so far and so I have been wanting to know more about him. However, the main female character is a brand new character to this series. She definitely brings her own intrigue to this story. Like the other books in this series, this one will draw you in so much that you lose track of time while reading it.

Review of “Royally Confused” by Jill Boyce

I have read all of Jill Boyce’s other books which are a different series called “A Dose of Love”. And I also read the short prequel to this book which is called “Royally Surprised”. This is the first book in the “Royal Medicine” series. This book centers around Claire Thomson whereas the prequel tells about how her parents met and what happened with them. The author does a really good job of drawing you into the lives of her characters. Similar to fairy tales, there is one character who is out to get the main character, Claire, and is not nice at all. I would definitely recommend this book.

Life’s detours can be the most important steps we’re meant to make.

Injured and stranded, hiker Quinn McAlister is stuck recovering in Laurel Cove, North Carolina. The quiet mountain town and its polite residents are a far cry from the stifling home and painful disappointments back in Maine. When her handsome rescuer offers her a place to stay, she’s faced with coming to terms with her past and putting faith, for once, in a hopeful future.

Camp director Eli Moreland has devoted his adult life to serving others. The summer takes an unexpected turn when the beautiful hiker staying in one of the cabins sparks a deep desire for more. Giving her advice about faith comes easy. What’s hard is deciding if he’s ready to reopen his heart to love.

Being lost is worth the pain when being found is so sweet.

Review of “Finding His Family” by Christina Miller

This is my first book by Christina Miller. In “Finding His Family”, Abe Armstrong runs a gym in his hometown of Natchez which is where he has his first encounter with his wife that he abandoned four years prior. Unbeknownst to him, she was pregnant at the time. However, he finds out about his daughter on this same encounter at the gym when Rosemary brings her dad for his boxing class to help with his Parkinson’s disease. Unlike a lot of the books I have recently read where a guy does not realize he is a father, I think this is the first one I have read where the couple was married and then the guy left but they never got divorced. I think that adds an interesting twist to this particular story. I really enjoyed reading this book. It was well written and I loved that you find out Abe does not want his gym to fail because that would mean the boxing class would have to end. The same boxing class he started specifically for the pastor that helped his family as a kid. I found that this novel definitely pulled at my heartstrings.

Review of “Power Play” by Rachel Dylan

Power Play by Rachel Dylan is the third book in the Capital Intrigue series. I did not feel at a disadvantage having not read the first two. A dinner for diplomats in the nation’s capital leads to two separate incidents both of which call for investigation. Could they be connected in some way? As you are introduced to Viv and Jacob and also Delaney and Weston, you will find yourself deep into the heart of suspense. So much information has been kept secret causing them to look over their shoulders and fear for their lives. The plot is one of high suspense with a touch of romance woven in. This is definitely a must read for mystery lovers!
