Thoughts of a Reader

This is the third and last book in “The Secrets of the Isles” series. This historical fiction novel has so many things that it will appeal to a wide variety of people. It has your romance and a mystery in the form of a treasure hunt. There are also some complicated relationships involving the main female character, Emily Scofield. I find myself wanting to jump in the book and help her out with both her brother and father. I would also really love to tell her mother to stop ignoring her own daughter. The treasure hunt is an intriguing part of the story but it is the human element to all the characters that really will grab your attention. Overall I would say that this book is extremely well written and is definitely worth reading.

This is the second book I have read by this author. I will say her books have a way of drawing me into the story to the point where I feel as though I am friends with the characters. The two main characters in this book own my two favorite places to go: a bookstore and a coffeehouse. They are side by side in what sounds like the downtown area. The two main characters have a past that they have to overcome in order for them to have any type of future. I thought this book was well written and a really great second chance story. It is also an awesome story of forgiveness. Their are so many great aspects to the book.

This is my first book I have read by this author. At the start of the book, you find out that Meg has been left to take care of her nieces and nephew who have basically been abandoned by both of their parents. This causes her nephew to act out because he blames himself, but thankfully her high sweetheart, Luke, returns to town. The remainder of the plot is the interactions between Meg, Luke, her nieces and nephew. It is such a great heartwarming story. It is well written and I highly recommend it.

I am a big fan of books by this author. This book would fall into the romantic suspense category. I think in this novel the romance seems more secondary to the suspense which is not a bad thing. I feel like the crime that is going on is so complex and intriguing that it is not even noticeable that the romance is subtle. There are a lot of twists and turns in this plot. My attention was held from the beginning to the end. The characters are also so well written that I felt like I personally knew them. And the author does a great job setting the scene so that you can picture exactly what is going on. This book was hard to put down.
