This is the debut book for this author. As an accountant the financial part of this book interested me but I was even more intrigued by the part of the book blurb that mentioned a secret the main character had. Some of the investment lingo threw me because I am not as familiar with it since I do not work in that part of accounting. I found the plot both intriguing and confusing. While reading it, I felt like I had started the book in the middle of it instead of the beginning. In the end, I thought the book was okay but I cannot really recommend it.
Review of “Birds on a Wire” by Katie Powner
I really enjoy books by this author. She is on my list of authors I go to when I need a good read. This novel falls within the contemporary genre so there is no suspense or real romance involved in the plot. It focuses more on real life messy situations people may find themselves in and how they deal with those situations. It was a fast read because it had short chapters and intriguing characters. I thought the name of the baby boy from the novel was so unique. I found the stories of both the main female characters to be gripping. This book caused me to feel a myriad of emotions. I definitely recommend this book.

Review of “Witness Safeguard Mission” by Carol J. Post
This is the fourth book I have read by this author. The suspense in this novel starts from the very beginning. This story revolves around Nicole and Braydon, but also includes the little sister of Nicole, Maddy. I felt so bad for Maddy because she is so young and having to deal with so much. I really enjoyed the interactions between all the characters in this novel. This book was so well written. I did actually figure out one of the people involved but I did not figure out the reason why. I definitely recommend it.

Review of “The Lumber Baron’s Wife” by Lynn Austin
This is the second book I have read by this author so I would say she is still relatively new to me. This is a split time novel that takes place in 1873 and present day. It has three main characters. Hannah and Kate from the 1873 time period as well as Ashley from the present day. Each chapter is labeled at the top with which main character it is about so you will not get confused. Also the chapters are not all the same length. Some are short and some are long. The chapters for Kate tend to be short whereas the ones for Hannah and Ashley tend to be longer. There is a mystery to this novel that grabbed me from the very beginning. I was also drawn in by the stories of the three women. They are all so different but each one was intriguing in their own way. I found myself enraptured by their stories. This novel was so good and I highly recommend it for everyone.

Review of “Unsolved Amish Abduction” by Mary Alford
This is the third book but the first of her love inspired books I have read. This novel has all the elements of a great mystery. It is a cold case involving the main female character as well as her sister. I found myself drawn into this book not only because of the mystery and suspense but also because of the characters themselves. I thought they were captivating. This novel had a lot of twists and turns. I had a hard time putting it down. If you’re looking for a great suspense, then you will really enjoy this book.
