Review of “The Chase” by Lisa Harris

The Chase by Lisa Harris is the second book in the US Marshals series. It is not necessary to read the first book, The Escape, in order to enjoy the second book. The author does an excellent job with character development and from the very first page, the reader will connect with the main characters, Madison James and Deputy US Marshal Jonas Quinn, as well as the secondary characters. This book is filled with mystery and suspense and will keep you on the edge of your seat. I found it hard to put down as I have with Lisa Harris’s previous books. So if you enjoy mystery and suspense, you will definitely enjoy this book..a must read!

Review of “The Secret Keepers of Old Depot Grocery” by Amanda Cox

This is the second book that Amanda Cox has written and the second by her that I have read. I had high hopes and expectations when I started reading this novel and I was not disappointed at all. It is a split-time novel which means that part of the book is set in the past and part is set in the present. I like how the author clearly marks which time period the chapter is set in so the reader does not get confused. The book centers around three generations of women from the same family. I feel like at minimum there is one thing about at least one of the women that most women can relate though it will not be the same thing for each woman. I found this story to be so compelling and heartwarmingly good that it was hard to put down.

Review of “Set in Stone” by David James Warren

This is book four in a six book series.  It has all of the key elements a good suspense book should have including twists that have you seeing stars.  It does not take long in this book for the author to throw in a very interesting surprise which I will not mention so as to not spoil it.  Another interesting dynamic to this book is that for a good portion of the novel, Rembrandt does not have the watch and you are left wondering when or if he will get it back.  This book grabs you in from the very beginning, makes you not want to put it down, and keeps you enthralled until the very end.

Review of “A Future to Fight For” by Mindy Obenhaus

This is my first book by this author. It is not however my first love inspired book so I had a good feeling about it. The cover of this book along with the plot summary really drew me in and caused me to want to read it. I really like how the author had the kids of Crockett Devereaux in my opinion be a sort of bridge between him and Paisley Wainwright. Even though when I started reading the book, I felt like it would be a happily ever after I still enjoy the journey to get there. I thought the author did a great job with how Paisley and Crockett seemed to have that love/hate relationship going between them. I also like noticing what the characters have in common that they do not realize.

Review of “Courageous Influence: Embrace the Way God Made You for Impact” by (in)courage

This is the third Bible Study in a series of four that all start with the word courageous. This one is set up like the others in that it is a six week study with five days per week. Unlike some other Bible studies, the videos do not have to be watched. They are more like a bonus to the study in my opinion. There is not even a designated place for notes from the video. Because the videos are not necessarily needed for this study, it makes it a more affordable Bible study specifically where the leader is concerned. The leader will not have to buy a leader kit like other Bible studies require to get the most from them. Also you do not have to have done the other studies in this series to do this one. I like that this Bible study has multiple contributors unlike other Bible studies I have done. It is also nice that they make it so all you will need is this Bible study and your Bible whereas some reference their book by the same name. This study definitely requires self reflection and you may find yourself writing only things that you would not mind someone seeing if they got ahold of your book.
